ABOUT DEREK

Derek Jech was born and raised in Northwest Arkansas and now resides

in Manhattan.

Jech is a musical mood-driven abstract artist and uses the power of music to stir and inspire his artistic process. When he begins any piece of art, he chooses one song to play on repeat until the completion of the piece. The title of that song becomes the title of that work.

He began painting in 2008 and earned his bachelor’s degree in Advertising from Pepperdine University in Malibu, California. After graduating, he moved to New York City where he started his career in business development for

a leading, global advertising firm and worked as a freelance writer for

Beverly Hills Lifestyle Magazine.

In 2019, he opened D.Jech Designs, an Etsy shop that features wearable pins of his favorite progressive political figures including Kamala Harris, Elizabeth Warren, Cory Booker, and his best-selling “For Pete’s Sake” Pete Buttigieg pin. In 2020, at the height of the Coronavirus, he released his Andrew Cuomo “Cuomosexual” button which became a best-selling Etsy item. Derek donated all profit to NYC charities.

Derek’s art has been featured in Page Six and Bustle.
